A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from sugary lies and acrimonious truths. It speaks of a river, its waters glinting with the allure of ecstasy. But within its depths lurks a venom, a deceptive lure that promises power at the cost of innocence. They say those who drown in its current are forever lost by the current's power, their lives forever corrupted into a desolate melody.
A River of Syrup
On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was horrifying. Homes and businesses crumbled under the force of the unstoppable goo.
The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more sustained wounds. The flood also caused a great deal of destruction to property, leaving a trail of sticky residue in its wake.
The City of Boston's Sticky Nightmare
This past week/month/summer, Boston has been plagued by a horrible/utterly disgusting/awful sticky nightmare. It seems like every/all/the majority of surfaces, from sidewalks/cars/buildings, are covered in an unidentifiable goo/substance/mess. The city/Officials/Local authorities are working to clean up/contain/investigate the sticky situation, but until then, Boston is left navigating/scrambling/dealing with this sticky/treacherous/tacky predicament.
